(July 8 ) - Matt Harding's hardly got the dancing prowess of Shakira or Chris Brown, but that hardly matters. His short series of viral videos prove his white-boy moves translate into dozens of languages and millions of YouTube streams.
The 31-year-old Harding has travelled the world. From one location to the next, he's been captured performing a clumby jig. Sometimes he's solo, other times he's joined by the locals. When in Madagascar, those locals are lemurs in the trees.
The New York Times reports that Harding he didn't go to college and travels because "it’s one thing I’m really good at." While Harding danced solo in his original videos, he's added a supporting cast of locals in the new 2008 version. "Those first videos were something I needed to do for me, but I realized then that watching me dance was getting a little old. The new video pushes a different button — you’ve got all these different people doing the same thing. I remember thinking, ‘Wouldn’t it be neat if you could capture that."
The videos have struck a chord. The YouTube clip of his 2006 dancing montage has been streamed over 10 million times, while the most recent 2008 version is creeping towards 5 million streams in just over two weeks.
He's been collecting video of himself dancing around the world since 2003 and posts the videos and maps of his travels at wherethehellismatt.com.
So who on here dances like him? Merse after a few beers and that bonfire BDR souvenier burning at Martinsville comes to mind?
