Definitely not the time to be delivering newspapers in Shreveport. Hope you get home safe and sound soon enough and find very little to do.
Now we get to see how the Atlantic Coast wll fare, while waiting to see what the two after that will do. wow.

to those who pm'd me..thanks for the kind words and thoughts. I am typing this from my phone so I can't respond to everyone personally. We got back into town yesterday around lunch. The house is fine we had one tree laying across the front yard, and debris everywhere. No power, but we are operating on generator with wondow unit and tv / satellite. This whole evacuation shit is a nightmare, you need to book a room so far in advace to secure something, but the weatherman have no idea where it's going at that point. I had a tier 1 re-entry pass, and the announce.ent to get back in was delayed, I actually found the info online. Luckily I had internet on my phone or I'd still be waiting to leave. Fortunately Katrina set the bar so high for us that a Cat 3 seems like nothing. I'd love to move out of this shithole, but it's all we know, and we both have very good jobs here. You can't imagine the last week of life here sitting up to 2 in the morning every night monitoring and watching the storm. Hoping and praying it goes somwwhere else. Now there's talk of 2 more with Ike and Josephine. I will say it will tale a lot for us to leave again. My parents said the same. Thanks again guys for the kind words and thoughts. We were very very very fortunate this thing weakened after crossing Cuba.

who needs food and dry land when you have cigs?quote from a guy rescued from Ike...
"Ronnie Sharp, 65, and his terrier-mix Princess, had to be rescued from his trailer in Orange County when water reached his knees. "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed," Sharp said. He said he lost everything in the flood but his medicine and some cigarettes. "
Good to see he has his priorities straight.

and another one...
"In Surfside Beach, retired carpenter and former Marine Ray Wilkinson became something of a celebrity for a day: He was the lone resident in the town of 805 to defy the order to leave. Authorities found him Saturday morning, drunk.
"I consider myself to be stupid," Wilkinson, 67, said through a thick, tobacco-stained beard. "I'm just tired of running from these things. If it's going to get you, it's going to get you."
He added: "I didn't say I had all my marbles, OK?"
